Delta Section in early 1972 took an off island sked to the Pescadores.

(We get in trouble on our return, because we were not allowed to go there!)

This was quite an adventure.  Besides riding in a plane that claims to have 50% problems, we pushed off to a small group of islands off the south west side of Taiwan.  Don't remember how many of us went on the trip, but there were quite a few of us.  The one's I know for sure went are Harry Hobbs, Steve Callas, Dave Wannemacher and myself.  I'm sure I've missed some, so if you went let me know and I'll add you to the list here.  There were other service people on the trip as well.   Some of them even brought their wives.  Anyway this sked was very memorable for a number of reasons.  Some that I remember are:

1.  Hardly anyone on the island spoke English.  We for the most part had to get by without anyone translating ANYTHING for us.  This was quite a trick since we were there for 3 days and usually hung over.

2.  The food menus had nothing in English.  We had no idea what we were ordering and some of us got some very surprising meals served.  Because of this, we didn't eat for 3 days.  After the pink rice dish and the surprise fish plate we decided to just drink for 3 days.  That we could find and did a lot of.  Boy surprise surprise, Linkou Navy drinking!!

3.  We had rope ladders right by our hotel windows.  We used them to get out, because they would lock the doors at night and we couldn't get out.   Sometimes beer runs were quite an adventure in themselves. One run we landed on the top of a car parked right below our window.  Right out of a Hollywood movie, we just kept going and got the beer. If the local police caught us we would have ended up in jail.  But OBVIOUSLY it was worth the risk to get more beer.

Well enough with the story, here are the pictures.

Harry Hobbs, don't know who was in front of him.  We did get to ride a bus every now and then if we wanted to go with the rest of the people that went on this trip.   Sometimes we did, but other times we didn't.

Steve Callas in our bar!, one of our hotel rooms.  It was very BORING at night.   No clubs so we just sat in our designated drinking room and waited until the hotel management showed up because of the noise level.
